Our story

Care that closes the distance

Fly2Health exists for the communities in between: the towns where a Speech Pathologist, an Occupational Therapist or a Psychologist has always been a long way and a longer wait away.

How it began

A Physiotherapist who learned to fly

Kennedy Lay was born in Hong Kong and came to Australia at fourteen. He built a career as a Physiotherapist, and kept meeting the same problem in different waiting rooms: the further a family lived from a city, the harder it was for them to see anyone at all.

In 2020 he decided the distance was the part he could fix, and retrained as a commercial pilot. The first flight went to Narrogin, in the WA Wheatbelt, with a day of appointments booked at the other end. The plane was never the point. It was simply the fastest way to put a clinician in a room with the people who needed one.

Built on invitation

Fly2Health was registered in January 2022. By May that year our first remote Aboriginal community service was running in Wiluna, built the way everything we do is built: on invitation, local partnership and turning up when we said we would.

What started as one clinician with a licence is now a national team working from six bases, in the air and on the road, holding regular visiting schedules with the communities on our map. The numbers below are live; they change as we grow.

  1. 2020

Kennedy Lay, a Physiotherapist who came to Australia from Hong Kong at fourteen, retrains as a commercial pilot with one goal: reaching the towns the health system leaves for last.

  2. 2021

The first flight, to Narrogin in the WA Wheatbelt. One clinician, one day of appointments, and a waiting room that proved the idea mattered.

  3. Jan 2022

Fly2Health is registered as a company, and the visiting model takes shape: regular schedules, local venues, the same clinicians returning.

  4. May 2022

Our first remote Aboriginal community service begins in Wiluna, WA, built on invitation, local partnership and cultural respect.

  5. Today

Teams now work from six bases: Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne and Darwin, reaching communities in every corner of the map.
