Your FCA report will be delivered to you within two weeks.

What is involved in the Functional Capacity Assessment process?

After you’ve been referred for an FCA (usually by the NDIS, an insurer, a healthcare provider, or a legal representative) and booked your assessment with Fly2 Health, you’ll progress through the following steps:

  1. Prior to your FCA, your assessor will review your referral, your medical history and any other relevant documentation.
  2. During your FCA, your assessor will have a conversation with you about your daily life. You’re entitled to use communication aids and receive assistance via a support person or interpreter during this conversation.
  3. Next, your assessor will undertake an evaluation of your physical, cognitive and emotional abilities by observing you as you complete everyday tasks.
  4. After completing the FCA, your assessor will prepare a detailed report that outlines your support needs and recommends services, therapies and/or assistive equipment.
  5. Your FCA report is then delivered to the organisation that requested the FCA so they can use it to make decisions regarding funding, care planning and appropriate legal options.

How can a Functional Capacity Assessment help address my support needs?

An FCA provides detailed evidence from an objective, professional perspective. The assessment will address a range of core areas, including a participant’s capacity to undertake self-care tasks, engage in social interaction, and maintain independent living arrangements.

The information contained in the report will help government agencies, insurers, and health providers understand and evaluate your eligibility for services and funding. For example, depending on the findings, an FCA could help support your application for NDIS funding.
