Thriving Kids School Program 2026

Thriving Kids will focus on identifying developmental concerns earlier and establishing a national system of supports for children aged 8 and under with mild to moderate developmental delay and autism, and their families.

Thriving Kids School Program 2026

DEVELOPMENTAL DELAY, AUTISM & ADHD AT SCHOOL

1. Early Identification & Prevention
Early screening in Prep and Grade 3 allows schools to identify and support students before they fall behind in literacy, language, handwriting, and social skills.
Research shows that early allied-health input improves academic performance, emotional regulation, and classroom engagement.

2. Seamless Transition from NDIS to Thriving Kids
Families currently funded under the NDIS will shift to Thriving Kids for mild-moderate developmental delays by 2028.
When the funding model changes, support will already be embedded within the school — no disruption to the child’s therapy or learning.

3. Supporting Teachers and Classrooms
Fly2Health provides:

  • Classroom assessments to adapt the environment.
  • Professional development on inclusion, behaviour support, and assistive technology.
  • Access to therapists for practical advice on classroom management (This reduces teacher burnout and creates calmer, more inclusive classrooms).

4. Building Capacity and Reducing Wait lists
School-based allied health means students get support faster — often within weeks.
It also reduces learning disruption, as sessions happen at school rather than during class time off-site.

5. Whole-School and Community Benefit
Screening every child gives schools valuable data on student needs.
Group and holiday programs build foundational skills in reading, handwriting, and social development.
Free parent seminars create shared understanding between home and school.

6. Readiness for Thriving Kids Implementation
The Thriving Kids program will expect schools to collaborate with health professionals.
By partnering with Fly2Health now, schools are ahead of the curve — compliant, experienced, and already delivering measurable outcomes when funding changes arrive.
